RRBC Member of the Month-How I really feel!

RRBC iconRight about now I can imagine that some members are thinking they could have used that Member of the Month spot. You actually have a book to promote! All I have is a blog that I work at only sometimes. I blogged in an earlier post that Rave Reviews Book Club brought me back to writing. http://lindamims.com/2015/09/18/welcome-to-lindas-rave-reviews-back-to-school-book-and-blog-block-party/

I’m sure the Board chose me for MOM based solely on the support that I give to RRBC’s members. You see, I tweet, retweet, and/or create new book tweets for authors who seldom even notice me. That’s okay. I don’t do it for thanks! Authors are busy on the marketing end when they’re not writing their next book.

When I participate in RRBC’s special Back-to-School Book Blog Party and Book Trailer Block Party, it’s not to win the prizes. It’s because I’m helping to get the word out about what you’re writing.

I follow members’ blogs and FB pages even when they don’t follow me back. As potential best-selling authors, you need the numbers. Admittedly, I’m a bit slow reviewing, though I have posted reviews to Amazon for a few members’ books.

I have my favorite members, just as anybody does, and those are the members (I can count them on one hand) who go out of their way to read my blog, leave a comment, or just click ‘like’. They know who they are. These busy authors, though they have hundreds/thousands of readers, still take time to show a fledgling member small kindnesses.

Others of my favorites have never RT’d one thing I’ve posted, ANYWHERE. Yet, I follow them, leave comments, and retweet them. Why? Cause they’re so doggedly determined to make it. Their covers are so creative and bold. Their book trailers are so original and engaging (especially the ones done by 4Wills Publishing).

Why do I support you instead of getting my own work done? It’s been hard for me! Here I’ll take a page from Evita Peron and say, “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”. When I say hard, I mean that my time, my concentration, and my wolfish hunger have deserted me. So, I give what I have to the crafting community that I have adopted and grown to love. It is my hope that when, and if, I find my way back, you will give it to me!

In the meantime, those of you, who have actual books that you’re trying to get noticed, can feel some kind of way about me getting attention this month. However, know this—if you will ‘like’ and ‘follow’ my blog, lindamims.wordpress.com; retweet, just a couple of tweets; and maybe leave me one comment during this month, I will Facebook and tweet the ‘hell’ out of your books in return. I’d do that anyway, but I’m just saying…

Thanks to President, Nonnie Jules https://ravereviewsbynonniejules.wordpress.com; and Vice-President, John Fioravanti http://fiorabooks.com!

    1. Thank you so much D. E. I’m trying and the hubbie gave me a good talking-to about letting everything get in the way of what I want to do. Still, I won’t stop pushing RRBC!!!

  1. I’d just like to add my congratulations Linda. I hope I have always responded to your tweets by visiting your page and re-tweeting what I find there, but I confess to not having been aware of your blog until I read this. That may well be my fault; but at least I know about it now! I’ll get myself over there and sign up! xx

    1. Hi Robin! What you’ve done for my Twitter ego is monumental. I know that you were also one of the first to follow me on FB. So, I’m not counting. You will always be in my top five! Thank you.

      1. I’m relieved and flattered in equal measure, so thank YOU! Big hug (xx)

  2. (((HUGS Linda))) – I’m so pleased that you’re our first 2016 MoM! Too many people forget that RRBC isn’t only about writers – readers are just as important, if not more so, if only because we’re the Rave REVIEWS Book Club and it’s this crucial support that helps most in getting our books noticed where it counts – at the point of sale.:-D

I’ll share something here that I’ve voiced many times before. I’m not ‘naturally’ fond of Twitter – still! However I also appreciate it greatly because it’s almost a perfect tool to growing a network of supporters (who very often turn out to be great new friends too) and reaching people you’d never otherwise connect with. For an author that’s gold dust, for readers it’s more of a grapevine thing – it’s how you find your next new favourite book…

So here’s to you Linda – a great tweeter, re-tweeter, reviewer, blogger and burgeoning author of The Neon Houses – please, please carry on writing for yourself! A lot of us wrote our books in complete isolation, without anyone to herald or praise what we were doing. Over the past couple of years we’ve been blessed by having RRBC around to direct some love in our direction and hot seats like Book of the Month, Member of the Month and even, or perhaps, most effectively, #PUSHTUESDAY spots are the crunch points at which you get your boost, whether that’s in terms of sales and reviews, or massive exposure on Twitter and the other social networks and blogs.
My own favourite platform is my blog, so I’m re-blogging this on there today as well as commenting, not least because I know you’ll find your way over there – again – very soon! 😉

    1. Thanks Jan! Every single thing you write is s-o-o-o worth reading. RRBC has been so much fun for me and it’s a great support system. I get to read and comment to authors and Club leaders and they respond! I’ll get over to your Blog very soon! 😀

  3. Congrats, Kim, I’m very pleased you’ve been awarded the first Member Of The Month for 2016! I concur whole-heartedly with John Howell – you’re very deserving, and we’re lucky to have you!

  4. Dear Linda,

First of all, “Congratulations, fabulous #RaveReviewsBookClub Member of the Month!” Thanks so much for all you do to support us, my friend. Wishing you and yours an amazing New Year.

    Blessings & love,
    Bette
