All Lives Won’t Matter Until Black Lives Matter

Of Course “All Lives Matter” and that is the point of “Black Lives Matter”. I get so tired of people viewing the “Black Lives Matter” movement with narrowed or accusatory eyes. To say that “Black Lives Matter is not to negate that White, Brown, or Yellow lives matter.

Actor Jessie Williams said it best, “What we’ve been doing is looking at the data and we know that police somehow manage to deescalate, disarm and not kill white people everyday.”

That’s what “Black Lives Matter” is about. Its purpose is to focus attention on the perpetual inequalities that exist in the United States (and presumably other countries since it has exploded all over the world).

Black Lives are disproportionately taken for inanely stupid things like traffic stops. You may say that they should have cooperated with the police, but I say even when they do, some end up dead.

I’ve seen non-black detainees hit cops, curse at them, spit on them, and still be given the benefit of the doubt because they were drunk. These people live to drive away.

To argue the importance of this movement or to say it shouldn’t exist because “All Lives Matter” is missing the point.

I’m not political, but please STOP with this “All Lives Matter” retort. It makes you seem ignorant and petty—almost as if abused people can’t get attention for their suffering without you wanting to take even that away?

Watch this video by Jane Elliot and then tell me if you don’t agree with “BLACK LIVES MATTER”. The video so aptly captures the plight of Black America.

    1. Hi John! I’ve had that same fearful feeling! I’ve been seeing outside agitators on our nightly news in Chicago and I hope that they won’t turn peaceful protests ugly.

  1. Linda, that’s a great way to put it. The amount of bigotry in this country about race issues, is painful to witness. We live, breath, dodge, endure, and inflict racism on us, and yet we are in denial of the existence of racism. How obtuse can that be?!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and commenting Joy! People who have never been affected by racism and bigotry must take the blinders off and admit that it does exist. My issue today is with people who deny this very real situation.

  2. Thanks Jan!
I was worried that my friends wouldn’t respond to this or appreciate this. It’s not my intention to alienate anyone (I have so many diverse friends whom I love). My fellow writers, of all people, will appreciate my right to write freely even if they don’t agree with what I write.

So, once again, thank you for the validation! Hugs!!!
