Good Morning Readers!
Today, June 23, Rave Reviews Book Club is “Paying It Forward” by devoting this entire day to promoting others. It is with great pleasure that I present Mark Giblin, the author of the exciting, true adventure, Speed Bump Himalayas. The book details Mark’s mishaps and escapades during a journey to the Himalayas.
“Only go home when you’re half mad, half dead, or both.”—Mark Giblin
“It’s 1987, and Mark Giblin has just discovered the perfect escape from the brawling pubs and concrete towers of Thatcher’s Britain.
India: mountains, beaches, chaotic, crumbling cities and an endless scope for travelling mayhem. His mate – a young Sean Lock – joins him, but their trip starts badly.
Once Sean regains his senses after landing in steaming hot, pre-monsoon Delhi, the pair stumble through Kashmir and Nepal on a ludicrous quest for fun. But on a remote mountain track, Mark discovers something far worse than the boredom of English suburbia, and is thrown headlong into a journey few could survive.
Speed Bump Himalayas will have you in stitches and tears as Mark charts the true tale of his remarkable journey, and his fight to stay alive.”
Here’s what Mark’s reviewers have to say:
“A breathtaking mountain adventure that will pin you to your armchair with laughter and suspense.”
– Ed Wright, author
“Now here’s a man with a truly terrifying (true) tale to tell. His comedy of errors is laced with disaster around every impossible corner.
With each new page my whole body tensed, but did I put the book down? Hell no. Mark poses the question that all great suspense writers ask: “How the hell are they going to get out of this?!”
Did I mention it was the best laugh I’ve had in a long time?”
– Stuart Spence, Sydney
“Got the book yesterday couldn’t put it down. What an amazing story and well written. Loved it.”
– Kendra Mckenzie

Hi all
A big thank you to Linda for her great post and helping me bring my book to some new potential readers and interesting people. It’s been a real eye opener seeing how this group works, and I’m keen to learn more and keep connecting and participating. I’m going to go and walk the dog around the cold bay before the family wakes up, and ponder over the connective powers of the blog and Twitter and group participation. Hopefully this will be my Twitter turning point, and Linda’s blog has helped a great deal.
And thanks to Nonnie for organizing this amazing group
