Exceptional

If I waited

Today is the seventh day of me writing blog posts without fail. I have been at this since October 3 and have done exceptionally well, if I do say so myself. Those who’ve followed me closely will say that I missed this past Sunday. However, a couple of you probably noticed that I did post Sunday. I removed the post because I considered it in poor taste. What I intended for humor could, acidentally, be misconstrued. My little essay was about Christianity or the lack there of. Just as I want to stay away from politics (as much as possible), I also want to stay away from religion.

The Word Press Daily Prompts have been great for me. Without exception, this exercise has boosted my daily writing habits as much as anything. Each morning (and some late afternoons, I confess), I went to The Daily Post to see what was brewing. Some word choices I liked better than others because they sparked ideas right away. Others, like ELASTIC, I couldn’t do much with, but I stilled tried.

Sticking with this has been pretty exceptional for me and I attribute my success to making each word its own subject. I didn’t try to tie it to yesterday’s word, or make a series of stories out of the words, or do anything fancy. I let each word do its own thing. My essays stayed short and simple, and I wrote about whatever came to mind. Writing that way was freeing and kind of exciting.

This experience has been so exceptional that I was inspired to sign up for NaNoWriMo next month. I never thought that I would be able to stick to NaNoWriMo requirements, but the Word Press Daily Prompts have given me the impetus to try.

Linda! Can you use exceptional in a sentence? Okay! I am feeling exceptional today!

  1. Woo-hoo! You go! I think you’re going to have NaNo in the bag at the rate you’re going.
I was hoping I’d be able to give it a try again this year but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. I will be cheering you on!
