The WP Daily Word—Undulate
I’m reminded of a song of my youth. Gypsy Woman by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. It describes a lovely, dark-haired woman dancing around a campfire light. The song is full of imagery and longing. The images are so vivid that every time I hear the song, I can see her body undulate as all the men sit crosslegged near the campfire, entranced.
Today I found a different recording of the song, but I’m sure you will love it as much as I loved Mr. Mayfield’s rendition. Let it inspire you to relax, unwind, and dream. Allow your body to undulate to the smooth sounds of music!
Thanks for a wonderful review, Mae! It means so much😍
I was glued. Looking forward to the next in the series!
😍I’m working, Mae, but I fell off after NaNo.
Good to hear there will be more 🙂
I remember that song. It brought back memories 🙂 Thanks for sharing, Linda!
P.S…I finished reading The Neon Houses. Remarkable book! I left you a review on Amazon and GR. What an amazing world and characters you’ve created.
I love the imagery in this song! Thanks, Linda, for sharing it with us.
Thanks, Jan. I appreciate the comment.
I haven’t heard this song in years. I had forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder..it was a good one. I like your take on undulate and how it reminded you of a song:)
It was a good one. I enjoyed it, too. Thank you, always!
Ahhh yea… Curtis Mayfield. That song goes back for me. A good one. This version is good too. Old school here with the original. It does take me back.
Thanks, Kathleen. Old school here, too!
I did find his version. If you care to hear it, you can find it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BY6T3JtoEo
Thanks, Penny! Your Curtis Mayfield version was a later, jazzier version. I had to go way back to find the one I remembered growing up. https://youtu.be/3Wd4tlX5t-Q
I hope you will give it a listen when you get a chance.
I can see why you like this version. Wonderful! Thanks for sharing. I learned something new! 🙂
THIS was always the version I was familiar with! Which I LOVE. Now I must go find the one by Curtis Mayfield! Thanks for sharing this Linda! 🙂
