I’m at the gym. I’m at Weight Watchers. I’m at line dance class. All of this to prepare for knee replacement surgery. The weight is coming down, but it’s a tough adjustment for a baby boomer (not a senior citizen—never that!). As the elders used to say, “if it ain’t one thing it’s another. If it’s not your sister, it’s your brother.” Who knew!
I should’ve stuck to my guns and did this when I was in my 50s. The thing is, I didn’t have the motivator (knee surgery) that I have now. The most interesting part of losing weight, besides running faster and jumping higher, is the damage it has done to my ego. I’m proud that I’ve shed 40 pounds since I began this journey in August, but the fat loss has ravaged my face and body.
The girls kindly say I look the same, but they don’t mention my new eye bags, developing jowls, or emerging turkey neck. If I didn’t look so cute in my new smaller clothes, I’d weep. This is a dilemma! Do I stop where I am? But to receive my new knees, I need to lose 20 more pounds. Do I eat my way back to where I started and hope the fat will come back and fill in the loose skin.
Why is life this way? Must there ALWAYS be bitter with the sweet? My advice for anyone under 50 thinking about taking the weight off—stick with it once you start. Don’t keep see-sawing, thinking you have enough time. The elasticity in your skin won’t snap back forever.
Has anyone tried to eat their way back to plump beauty? How did that work for you? I’m just asking.
Good luck on your weight loss journey! Peace to you regarding the loose skin. I had an old co-worker who loss over 100lbs and she toyed with getting surgery to “tie up loose ends” with her skin. I don’t know if she ever did.
Prayerfully, everything will work out the way it needs to.

Oh, you are so kind, trE. I’m looking at options, but it’s not bad enough for surgery, yet. Still, I appreciate all prayers.

I do the Easy Body Groove dance workout sometimes but need to do it more. It’s a DVD I purchased. They have a 30 minute workout on YouTube also
If I have to leave the house, I’ll never do it. I’ve done the weight watchers online before and did well.

Go for the extra 20, Linda! It’s not about how it looks. It’s about how it heals. Taking off that extra weight makes it easier on the body to function properly, which will lead to better years in the future. Congrats on losing so much already! That’s a huge accomplishment! Good luck on your knee surgery!

I think time will take care of the loose skin but you are better off without the weight than to worry about the skin.

Hi Linda. I am wishing you all the best in your journey to surgery and healing.
I’m still intact and this new diet is making the difference. Strictly vegetarian.
Love you!💕

It is so true. Some of my most dangerous afflictions were attributed to diet. My sister sent me a link to Dr. Bobby Price on youtube. Look him up and subscribe to learn more about diet and cleansing. I started watching his videos (old and new) and suddenly after about 6 months of listening to him, a lightbulb went off and I decided to get on board. I am so thankful that I did. Your mind has to be ready for it or you won’t succeed. 😊
